Week 7 -- Doesn't anyone teach writing anymore?

I’ve finished grading 30 five page papers, and find myself feeling like a high school English teacher, repeating words I’ve already said about writing papers.

• Your paper needs a title. “Short paper” is not a title.

• A company is not a human. It is an “it” or an “its,” not a “they” or a “their.”

• On quotes of more than 3 lines, please indent and single space so you set it off from your own words.

• Voice: please use the third person, not the first person. The content is more important than the author.

• Your assertions about a company need evidence and examples. Your recommendations on fixing a company need to be based upon an actual understanding of what is already in place. And they need to be realistic.

That is all.

We are about to hear from our guest speaker, UWMC Chief Compliance Officer Beth DeLair.
